Enriching Student Life Beyond the Classroom
At The De La Salle School, student life thrives beyond the classroom. Our diverse range of clubs and activities offers students the opportunity to explore new interests, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships. From spiritual development to academic enrichment, our programs are designed to foster a well-rounded and engaging school experience.
Morning Assembly
Every morning, the entire school community comes together for Morning Assembly. This daily gathering is an opportunity to start the day with prayer, reflection, and important announcements that set the tone for a productive and positive day.
Buddy Program
The Buddy Program pairs 5th graders with 7th graders and 6th graders with 8th graders. This mentorship program includes weekly buddy lunches on Fridays and regular check-ins, fostering a supportive “big brother, little brother” relationship that helps build strong bonds and leadership skills.
Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutoring provides academic assistance where students are paired based on subject expertise. Weekly sessions offer consistent support, helping students improve academically while encouraging cooperation and responsibility among peers.
Lasallian Ambassador Program
Lasallian Ambassadors represent the school during visits and events, providing tours and answering questions. This role helps students develop leadership, confidence, and communication skills while fostering pride in their school.
Student Council
The Student Council gives students a platform to influence school-wide decisions and plan events. Regular meetings ensure that students’ voices are heard and their ideas are implemented, promoting a collaborative school environment.
Mock Trial
The Mock Trial program, guided by Hofstra University Law School students, offers weekly practices that help students develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and public speaking skills. The program culminates in a competition at St. John’s University, providing hands-on experience in the legal field.
Spiritual Development
Spiritual growth is emphasized through weekly Mass and observance of holy days. Students are encouraged to live out their faith through service and religious education, integrating spirituality into all aspects of student life.
Rewards Club
Every Friday from 2:00pm – 3:20pm, students participate in the Rewards Club, choosing from activities like soccer, basketball, European handball, and various clubs. This time allows students to unwind and explore new interests, making the end of the week enjoyable and engaging.
Family Events
Family events like Family Fun Day, Field Day, International Luncheon, and the Special Person’s Dance bring the school community together. These events celebrate the diverse cultures and relationships within the school, strengthening the connection between students, families, and the school.
